The Bakery creates a new way for artists and their audiences to connect, making contemporary artwork accessible to everyone.

Started in a 19th century bakery on the iconic Portobello Road, and now with a second location in Islington's Camden Passage, we provide two friendly spaces for artists to share their work.

The gallery consists of twenty member artists who put on a rolling exhibition of current work, curated with input from the artists themselves. Alongside this programme, the gallery hosts a series of week-long solo and small group shows by visiting artists.

The gallery is always manned by one of the artists, so you’ll be able to have a conversation with a practicing artist about work on display. Our goal is to create an accessible way for artists to interact with the public and to allow the public to engage with contemporary art today.
