ABOUT

AN ARTIST RUN GALLERY

The Bakery art gallery is an artist led space founded in 2021 by Kate Domash. Kate wanted to create a welcoming, artist led environment to benefit both creatives and collectors local to London. It is run on a cooperative basis, where the artists make practical contributions to the running and development of the gallery. We have two locations in London where you can find us: Notting Hill (an old bakery and our namesake) and Islington. Both locations are staffed by our artists, so you can talk directly about their practice with them. There is a rolling selection of work by our members alongside guest solo and group exhibitions. Our spaces contain all forms of contemporary artwork from painting, printmaking, sculpture, drawing and ceramics. These varying forms of work are curated in our spaces by the artists themselves. We hope to foster an inclusive environment where artists and audiences can connect meaningfully.

‘I found the bakery - complete with a black cast-iron oven and original granary - while planning a debut show with the brilliant Rebecca Hathaway, and I couldn’t let the space go. What began as a one-off experiment quickly grew; interest snowballed, a waiting list formed, and by June 2023 we opened a second location in Camden Passage with a group of artists, many local to North London. Now the two spaces cross-pollinate: our artists curate together, share opportunities, and bring in new work daily, keeping the spirit of that first lively experiment alive.’ Kate Domash, founder of the Bakery Art Gallery.
