Bethe Bronson
Originally from the U.S. Bethe Bronson now lives and works in London. She earned an MFA from The Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, many years later after relocating to the U.K. she earned an MA from Wimbledon College of Art.
As a mixed media artist Bronson’s work is informed by processes and concepts relevant to photography such as absence, presence, and the passage of time. Investigations in early pioneering photographic processes have led her to create handmade pinhole devices and explore camera-less processes as a way of commenting on what constitutes duration. Among the unexpected results have been extremely long pinhole exposures that document extended moments, ultimately, they portray absence, and capture presence. Additionally, she has been known to produce site-responsive installations, still and moving image, embracing both traditional and alternative, analogue and digital. Amongst all this there’s also some painting, and most recently a bit of textiles.
