Emma Chambers

Emma Chambers studied Textile Design at Brighton before embarking on a career as a freelance designer. Elements of her training, such as pattern and layout still inform her work. She is most interested in plants that go unnoticed; small landscapes under foot. With intense observation she is able to untangle detail from the most complex of visual challenges. Sitting at ground level, Emma gains a unique perspective, almost an insect eye view of the world. She documents what she sees and and invites the viewer to sit where she sits, to take a closer look, and enjoy the quiet complexity of nature. Notes are included in her paintings, giving her work a personal sketchbook quality, adding to the viewers sense of being present. Her work can currently be seen at The Bakery, Portobello Road, where she is a member of the artist led gallery. She is also a member of Wimbledon Art Studios with whom she exhibits twice a year at Wimbledon Art Fair, and at Bankside Gallery, where she is an Associate member of the Royal Watercolour Society.
