BIOGRAPHY
I was born in 1996 in the city of Khmelnytskyi located in the west of Ukraine. I graduated from the National Academy of Arts in Lviv at the Faculty of Decorative and Applied Arts. But I don't limit myself within the framework of academic education, expressing my own views in the modern world. I display my works in the form of panels, posters, illustrations, prints.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My art reflects the world, events, people around me, and my attitude towards it. My works are impressions left by people — visually exaggerated images of women striving for materiality and unnatural beauty.
My paintings combine emotional conviction, reflected in the contrasts of colors and textures, with imagery and symbolism. Almost all my pieces depict women, almost always with big lips instead of a head. They seem to be the same and look like clowns. They play roles dictated by society. Society says that you cannot grow old, you must always be young and fresh. But beauty has also changed. You are beautiful if you have big lips, eyelash extensions, cheekbones, long legs and bright manicures. These people lose the personal traits that distinguish them from others.
However, some of my paintings have differ content and ideas. This happened after the Russian attack on my country. The war that Russia brought to our country changed my vision of the world and people. I have paintings about the unbreakable will and courage of my people.
I use different materials for my works: canvas without subframe, acrylic, pastel, spray. I also use textiles in my works. These are ropes of different thickness, color and size. I like to combine ropes with canvas. Works become tactile and voluminous. The paintings are like carpets, which is what I was trying to achieve. When I studied at the academy of arts, we tried different techniques from batik painting to tapestry weaving. It was exciting! When my friends and I were working on creating our own clothing collection a few years ago, we used elastics to decorate the jacket and pants. Then I realized that it would be perfect for my paintings.
